You start with a shire that has a summon time of 90 minutes. Until you manage to get enough red coins for a second mount, you are going to have to manage your pet usage or else you’ll run out of time. I recommend saving up 70 coins for a broom pet so you can fly, after that you can pick whatever you want. A mimic pet is good for carrying around 3 players (giants fit too) and provide a large inventory, while a pet cobra will provide poison, which can make killing shadow mission bosses a lot easier.
Pet utility breakdown (I only cover the useful ones):
Mount-type pets:
Shire/Black Unicorn: Basic 2-seater land mount that everyone has, most people probably won’t be buying an extra one. Runs at medium speed. Useful for smuggling people too, can’t carry giants unless the owner is also a giant. Black Unicorn literally is exactly the same as a Shire, also it costs less red coins (60 vs 75).
Shire is medium land speed, when I say something is medium speed then it is Shire speed.
Flying Star: Basic land/flying mount, has middling speed in both land and air travel. Recommended as the first pet to save for since the summon time limit can be crippling. Nothing much to say here.
Flying Star is medium flying speed, when I say something is medium flying speed then it is Flying Star speed.
Eagle: Basic flying mount, it has fast flight speed but rather slow land speed. If you fly a lot, you may consider going for an Eagle instead of the Flying Star as your second pet.
Thunderbird: 2-seater land/flying mount, it has slow flight and land speed as is common for pets that carry more than one person. If you want to carry others across Iria then this is for you.
Magic Carpet: This 2-seater pet flies slow but runs slightly faster than a Shire. Also this pet has the distinction of being able to carry 2 giants at once. If you have the coins, then you can buy this instead of Thunderbird.
Antique Mimic:Not exactly a very fast mount, this pet can carry up to 3 players, including giants, making the ultimate smuggling pet. It also has a large inventory, and it reduces the damage taken for players hiding inside.
Griffin: This pet costs a whopping 150 red coins, it flies a slightly slow speed and runs at Shire speed, it only seats one person, and I don’t really recommend it unless you just want one for looks. It has an above average inventory size, but that’s about it.
Thoroughbred: The signature Mabi horse, this is currently the fastest land mount in the game (not counting the Ostrich while it’s boosting). There’s nothing much to say about it, it runs fast and that’s about all it’s really good at.
Small Event Ostrich: This ostrich is basically a Shire, being able to carry 2 people at once.
Black Cotton Ostrich: This pet runs faster than a Shire but slower than a Thoroughbred (equal to Tiger speed). However this pet has the Boost skill which temporarily lets it run at the speed of flight but has a cooldown. Type boost! into the chat box to quickly activate this ability.
Combat-type pets:
Snow Tiger: Currently the strongest combat-type pet on this server, it boasts the ability to attack while mounted as well as having both combat and magic skills capped at rank 5 unlike almost every other pet (it does take plenty of leveling to reach that stage). It is the second fastest pet, allowing you to blaze through dungeons and Shadow Missions while keeping combat ability. If you are serious about raising this pet, it has the best stat gains at age 2 to 3.
Rainbow Sprite (Rainbow Spirit in Shyla’s shop): This pet mounts on your back instead of the other way around, granting a defense/protection buff while unified. Also, this pet applies the road companion bonus as soon as it’s summoned, and doesn’t fade until you desummon it. It can also reach rank 6 in almost every skill, unlike many pets.
The stat growth is best at age 1 and 3.
Laghodessa: Not immediately suited for direct combat, but it reaches rank 6 healing extremely quickly, at only 26. As such, you can feed it MP 30 pots that you find everywhere and have it heal you for almost 100 HP by spending 20 MP. For players that don’t like to chug a ton of HP pots between dungeon rooms. However, this pet lacks smash and counterattack.
Panda: Pandas have high damage, and their combat tab will cap out at rank 6 very quickly at only level 33. Has poor magic skill caps, however.
Red Panda: Starts off with slightly weaker stats compared to Panda, however it starts off with a very skewed skillset, with combat skills at rank F and healing/lightningbolt/critical hit capped at rank 6. If you want a healer pet without putting effort into leveling it then this pet is for you. It doesn’t gain skill ranks by leveling, rather feeding it magic tofu will start to skew its skills in the opposite direction, boosting its combat skill ranks while lowering its magic and critical hit. Check the wiki here for the skill table: (http://wiki.mabi.world/view/Red_Panda)
Desert Cobra: You don’t use this pet to actually deal damage, rather you sic it at enemies and hope that you can proc a poison effect. Also useful since you can gather poison bottles from it to poison your own weapons, each bottle consumes 30 mana from the pet. Bosses in high level dungeons tend to be immune to poison, but shadow mission bosses are affected by it and a successful poisoning can potentially reduce a fight from minutes to seconds, especially in higher difficulties. Certain field bosses are also vulnerable to poison, allowing you to tackle the tanky Iria ones like the Gold Kiwis and Mongoose bosses which have over 10k HP (each tick of poison inflicts over 2k damage easily if you poison it early).
Dapple Thunder Spaniel (Listed as Dapple ThunderDog): This pet dog has the ability to cast Thunder. The effectiveness of this ability is dubious, seeing how it’s capped at rank A and the rest of its skills aren’t anything too special.
Trans pets:
Bombay/Siberian Husky: They’re above average as a combat pet, with middling skill growth, but their special ability to transform into a Paladin/Dark Knight with their owner makes them very strong. For people who like to fight alongside their pet, this is a must have. Of course, you need to have cleared G2 or G3 to access the transformations first. Elves and Giants are out of luck, sadly.
Life skill pets:
Black/white sheep: For shearing wool, except they’ll stay in one place while you do so. Shearing consumes mana, and it’s recommended to have it sit at the hot springs to keep its mana topped up.
Clover Pig: For potion makers, this pet is a must have. This pet can provide every normal herb plus antidote herbs, but no mandrakes. The Clover Gnu (which doesn’t exist on this server yet) would provide mandrakes, but no antidote herbs. If you want mandrakes, you’ll have to hunt for them yourself at the moment. Also drops four leaf clovers at a 1% rate, which is used to create 300 point potions. As usual, having the pet sit in hot springs is recommended to keep mana up.
Black Wolf: It can fight too, but most people use this pet to get sheep stuck in a corner for easy shearing.
Cow: You can collect milk from this pet, which consumes its mana.
Monkey: This pet has fast combat skill growth but its stats are rather poor. It can use Rock Throwing and distinguish mimics from treasure chests.
Companion Pets:
Himalayan: It’s a fluffy cat that you can have out while you’re afk or something.
